A power wheelchair, also known as an electric wheelchair, offers a mid to high-level support seat over four or six wheels and a joystick steering arrangement. Elevating leg rests, oxygen tank carriers, and specialized cushions are available when medically necessary, as well as many out-of-pocket accessories. Two batteries are stored on board and can be charged either onboard or through a separate battery charger.

    How do I know if I qualify for a power wheelchair?

    The medical necessity of power mobility equipment must be determined by your ordering provider. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from safely ambulating or have had falls or fear of falling inside your home even with the use of other assistive devices such as a cane, walker or can no longer self-propel a manual wheelchair, you may want to discuss power mobility products with your ordering provider.

Many times we can diagnosis your problem immediately over the phone. After one year, Medicare may will pay to service your power wheelchair in your home.
